Structure and manufacturing Procedure
The 1000 Denier Cordura is generally made from dyed DuPont yarns which sometimes may be interspersed with other different fabrics for their versatility and also depending on their use. The yarn filaments are woven intricately into looped entanglements that helps create the final strong fabric. One side of the fabric is then coated with a urethane sealer called enduracote that gives the fabric its water repellent nature. The texturing of the fabric is done via an air jet process yielding a product that is highly resilient and resistant to abrasion. These coated fabrics come with a width of 60 inches, in a variety of colours that range from black, brown, burgundy to gold and purple including neutral prints. A square yard of uncoated cordura fabric generally weighs just 9.8 oz. while a square yard of coated cordura fabric weighs 11 oz.
Uses
The 1000 fabric, finds a large number of applications due to its versatility and inherent properties. The durability of the fabric, qualifies it to be put to some heavy duty use. The other characteristic features of this nylon fabric such as resistance to tears as well as scuffing, makes it an ideal fabric for garments that need to be used outdoors, in sports etc. The ability to resist chemical and perspiration stains also makes it appealing to be used in sports clothing. Other important use of this 1000 Denier cordura fabric is for outdoor products like sports equipment, gold bags, baggage’s, backpacks and suitcases.
Care and cleanliness
Since the yarns of this fabric resists staining, products made of it need only to be wiped by a clean, damp cloth. Other clothing items can either be hand washed or washed in a machine using lukewarm water and dried on mild heat. Extreme heat should never be used, as the fabric may deteriorate or even melt. Also, this 1000 Denier cordura fabric should not be exposed to continuous sun rays which can damage them. Therefore they need to be stored well when not in use
